REVIEW: J Grrey live @ YES Manchester

J Grrey has been slowly carving a name for her self as one of the leaders of the new wave of British RnB.

She came to prominence with her COLORS performance of Don’t Fade and since then she has dropped an EP and more singles. It was only a matter of time before she would end up headlining her first tour.

In her own words ‘Manchester is like a second home to me’ she stated in one of her pauses between performing her tracks, so it was only fitting that Manchester should be the first date of her tour. After support from DJ Chunkz and local artist Victoria Jane – she finally graced the stage to a massive reaction from the crowd.

Working her way through tracks from her past work including the Grrey Daze EP and previews of tracks from her forthcoming EP, she gave a very close intimate performance, inviting the crowd to come closer as, drink in hand she took us on a musical journey through her perspectives on life, love and romance. Finally she closed her main set off show with a raw rendition of “Notice”

Her set came to an end, but the crowd had other ideas. After chants of ‘One more song!’ she came back out to and gladly obliged with a high energy performance of her Jarreau Vandal collab “Down About It”

It looks like 2020 will be a great year for her – if you haven’t been to any of her or shows or listened to her music now is the time.
